Protect That Smile
Cleaning your Toddler’s Teeth

Up to age two, you may want to gently wipe your child’s teeth and gums with a soft washcloth. When your child is about two and has most of their primary or baby teeth, it is time to teach brushing. As children get used to having their teeth brushed, they will probably want to do it for themselves. But to make sure that the teeth are indeed getting clean, it is important to closely supervise your child’s brushing until age five. Most importantly however, make sure that they do not swallow any toothpaste and only place a small amount of the paste (about the size of a pea) on the toothbrush.
